You might have read reports in the Press recently that some Clinical Commissioning Groups propose to ration treatment because a patient is overweight or smokes. It’s likely that this practice will become widespread as the NHS hits the financial buffers this winter.
Hip replacement surgery is a wonderful operation which dramatically relieves pain, and transforms peoples’ lives. If you’ve been denied surgery because of ‘lifestyle’ issues, then you might wish to consider having it done as a private patient. We don’t discriminate against the overweight or smokers.
