The second Annual Meeting of FortisNet was held at Careys Manor yesterday. I opened the meeting with a talk on Bionic Bones and Joints: Better, Stronger, Faster! Those of you of a certain age might remember that this phrase was used to describe Steve Austin, the Six Million Dollar Man.
The meeting was a huge success, with presentations from clinicians, entrepreneurs and academics. The highlight of the meeting was the last presentation from Noel Fitzpatrick, the Supervet. He gave a brilliant, inspirational talk on the work that he has done with animals and how we might work together in order to share our knowledge and experience for the benefit of all of us. He talked about his charity The Humanimal Trust which aims to foster collaboration between human and animal medicine and surgery. Wonderful stuff! It was good to catchg up with my good friends and colleagues Richard Cook from nCATS and David Bream from SETsquared, and there were plenty of opportunities to network with everyone. FortisNet is going from strength to strength, and I am very excited to be a part of it!
