Today saw the publication of surgeon specific data on the NHS Choices website. It is good to see that most people who undergo hip replacement surgery live long enough to enjoy the outcome! Publishing mortality data is pretty meaningless in my opinion, and doesn’t really help patients to make an informed decision about which surgeon they would choose, particualrly as most patients who have NHS treatment aren’t able to choose their surgeon anyway! The data show that I do more hip replacements and revision operations than average. Here is a link to my data: http://tinyurl.com/orp6y2r
