Private health insurance is expensive, and many people choose instead to put money aside in order to purchase health care when it is needed. I have edited this post in November 2022 to provide an update on the costs. Currently it’s about £16000. Most private hospitals in the south of England charge much the same for self-pay surgery, and they will usually price match. If you have a complex problem that requires special planning and equipment, then the cost is likely to be higher. Similarly, if you have medical problems that require a longer stay in hospital, then you will have to pay more for this.  The hospital will provide you with a bespoke quotation.
