BUPA actively encourages patients not to see me because I have in the past charged more than it will reimburse me for the procedures that I do. I have heard that patients are told that they might have to pay for the whole treatment cost. This is not only alarming to patients in a vulnerable position, it is also disingenuous. I understand that BUPA call centre staff advise patients on which specialist to see for their condition. Call me old fashioned, but if I needed advice on which specialist to see, I’d ask a doctor! Make sure that you get the bost possible advice about a specialist from someone you know and trust, not someone in a call centre.
